rear end noise...?
Basically what i hear is quite a noticeable "popping" or thumping when i shift from like 1st to 2nd to 3rd at a moderate amount to acceleration to hard ammount, this sound also occurs when i apply my brakes, (just to make sure i hit my brakes on and off and it deffinately does make the same noise or at least something close to it) I searched the forums for simular issues and i keep on hearing differential mounts, I'm not exactly sure where those are and if they would nessesarily be what is causing the noise in my situation. So I just decided to go take a look at all the bushings near the brakes and see it metal is hitting anywhere. So first thing i wiggled the brakes back and forth and it was making a simular sound so after a while of searching what possibly could be making the noise we narrowed it down to a certian area, here are some pics:
I only checked the rear right side so i don't know if the left side is making the same noise but i was just wondering peoples input on my situation, also where the best place to get those particular bushing would be and what they even are, Sorry i'm not to familiar with my car yet, but i'm just trying to get some basic issues taken care of as soon as possible, Thanks.

Well the circled item toward the rear of the car is a pillowball. There are 3 per side in the rear, and they do wear and develop play as you pile up mileage. These are very much worth replacing. Worn pillowballs also tend to create pop noises when the car is first moved from being parked.
The circled item toward the front is a bushing that also commonly wears out. Unfortunately, it's not available from Mazda as a single bushing - Mazda only sells it as a new trailing arm with the bushing inside. (If you're a Mazda Motorsports member there is a stiffer bushing available separately, but you need to race 2x/year to qualify).
Anyway, replace the ones that have play or looseness and you'll get a much better handling car.

So if it is the pillowball would it make noise when: I tap the brakes, move my car from parked possition when parked overnight, Shifting from 1st from second mostly, hit bumps (speed bumps/ small uneven spots on road)? because if those are the symtoms of bad pillowballs then i guess i would want to get some, Do they sell those and where on my picture are the pillowballs?
Thanks for the help.

You should really read the FAQ for this forum if you haven't already. (I see you're new).

The pillowballs run around $60/ea and can be bought from any dealer, although I strongly recommend Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda. Your symptoms sound like pillowballs, but the real evidence is the play you found in the rear of the trailing arm.

Cool, i'll make sure to read through the faq. Thanks for all the resources dgeesaman, I'm going to have a mechanic/friend double check to make sure it's the pillowballs and not something else like diff. bushings, but if it is indeed the pillowballs I see you recommend malloy mazda; I did a search and i guess they had multiple sales on the pillowball bushings does anyone know if there is any deal I can get on those+dust seals anymore or am I a bit to late for that?
