rear end gears-diff?

No ****. This is what you get when people keep hitting the submit button like a lab rat when their post doesn't immediately go through...
BTW, the answer to your question is yes. The rear end does have gears, and they're different than the gears in the transmission. Isn't that what you were trying to ask?!?

But, you'll lose some top-end speed as well.

thanks alot areXseven that is exactly what i meant. i was just wondering too if you guys thought the swap from 4.10 to 4.33 would really be worth it at 420 rwhp. thanks. do any of you guys actually have 4.33's in your car?

No, 4.33s are a negligible gain over 4.10s and not worth the money or effort, in my opinion. They'd be great for an automatic car, but for a manual you're better off going with 4.70s if you're going to change at all.
However, it depends on what your intended use of the car is. If you need to change the gear to go through the traps at redline because of an increase in tire size, then that's one thing. If you road race a lot, predominantly on tracks with shorter straights and more turns, then the shorter gears would probably help there too. If you autocross, it's probably a toss-up whether it's worth the money or not. Again, it depends on the average layout of the courses you run on. A shorter gear is going to get you out of a corner a little faster, all things being equal, but you'll probably sacrifice some speed on long straights.
Personally, I'd spend the money elsewhere. If you really do have 420 RWHP, I don't see any reason for gears, especially if you do most of your driving on the street. Keep in mind that changing the gears is absolutely going to harm fuel economy. You'll be turning more rpm at any given speed than you used to. That said, I've posted several times about the effects of both 4.33s and 4.70s on acceleration and cruising rpm... use the search feature.

gear change
I switched to 4.3 about a year ago. Not sure if I would do it again. There is a lot more low end seat of pants feeling of power, but you also have to watch how you start out. It is really easy to make a gigantic cloud of blue rubber smoke and not go anywhere when you lose rear end traction. If you want real drag race capability, go with the lower ratio, like jimlab suggested and get a good set of slicks.
