Rear Counter Weight removeal?

I am having some trouble removing the rear counter weight. the little pin holding it on is in there and i have no idea how to pull it. I attempted using a gear puller to remove the counter weight without removing the pin. that didnt work. any ideas?

I used a harmonic puller. It's basically like a steering wheel puller but slightly larger..

I used the same bolts that hold the flywheel on, to jack it off. Remove flywheel, reinsert bolts into holes, and put steel shims,(you could use pennies if you want) on the back side of couterweight, center of where the bolts protrude through, to push off of the rear cover. It popped of very easily.

Dont spend much time in the Lounge section do you... lol

You must spend your time in the garage instead...

This is the best way, honestly you can beat on the CW all day or use Pullers, but the re-using the mounting bolts works best. This also allows you to take it off without any risk of dropping or gnarring the CW.

Pennies are actually the best idea, because they are softer than the bolts, so as to not deform the threads.

To be completly honest I had already damaged the counter weight before posting this between trying to hammer it off torch it ect. after all my trouble the two pennies idea worked amazingly. it was easy as hell I used nickels just to make sure i didnt accidentally dmg the rear housing. So it cost me all of 10 cents and about 3 minutes.

this is by far the best tip or trick I have ever recived. I am keeping the nickels as a reminder of just how much easier life can be when you ask the internet.

thanks for your help everyone

I remember when I was trying to pull my rear counter weigh, I had the car on a lift and all I had was a hammer and a chisel.I didn’t want to spend money on a puller so I was banging and prying away at the counter weight suddenly the god damn thing popped off and landed right on my for head-man I saw birds and stars spinning around my head, I had suck a lump for days I looked like a retarded unicorn.hahaha.

Bolt the flexplate/flywheel back onto it and use a big rubber mallet and hit the flywheel in around the circumference.

If you have a flexplate this might not be the best idea. They are kinda weak and you risk bending it. But with a flywheel it's game-on.

Yeah man... I was afraid of that happening so I totally got out of the way. Although my car was on jacks and I could barely sit on my butt in the transmission tunnel.

Wedging a large chisel behind the c-weight or flywheel while tapping the e-shaft axially also works, but in doing it that way especially requires the nut to be engaged a few threads to keep things from catapulting off.....darn tapers.

You are crazy if you're hitting the E-shaft.... even worse axially.
