Unhappy rear bumper turns black...help

My rear bamper turns smoky black, and there are some color swell out. I tried polishing but it doesn't work.

Has anyone face the same problem? if so how to?

Thanx

Yes, I would suspect the mixture is wrong or that excessive oil is getting into the exhaust from somewhere.

You should fix what the problem is with that first.

If you can not fix it, the best way to clean the bumper is with strong soap and rub it with a CLEAN sponge so you don't make scratches. After you get it very very clean, apply several coats of wax. That way it makes the black stuff easier to remove next time.

I have also heard of other people cleaning their bumpers with other stuff. Try searching on "bumper soot" or "bumper black" and you might turn up some more information.

meguiars paint cleaner. sold as step #1 in their 3 step car care system. follow up with polish (#2) then yellow carnuba wax (#3). then increase the frequency of your washes. i have a white FD that had soot that was not removed by meguiars "cleaner wax". The gravel guard on the bottom of both sides had also yellowed. 3 step fixed both of these. only thing it's not good for is to get bugs off the front.

try some turtle wax rubbing compound. My exhaust left giant black spots on my rear bumper, and that stuff got it out.
