I can't find the torque spec for the rear axle hub nut, can anyone help please. I can find it for the 1st and 2nd gen but not 3rd!

Here's page M10 and 11 from the 1994 service manual. Is this what you're looking for?
Torque spec for the nut is 236-313 N-m, [24.0 to 32.0 Kgf-m, 174-231 ft-lbf]. A new nut is called for.

Part number is LA01-33-042B, Rx8, MPV and the Mazda 6 use the same one, so it should be easy to find at a parts store.

the old nut was staked down, so if its reused sometimes there isn't enough meat to re-stake it (sometimes there is)
and then if you've got both sides apart you can often swap sides with the nut, as the staked part lands in a different place.

FWIW…You may have already struggled to get those splined axle ends out of the hub. I like to give ‘em a quick swipe with a wire brush and a bit of antiseize going back on.

I wish mine popped out with just that. Blow torch, anti-seize, various axle removal tools and a big *** impact and eventually, in frustration, took a sledge to mine and ended up just mushrooming the end and it still didn't come out.

Had to pop out the axle and remove the hub entirely to press out. Ended up breaking a tab on the knuckle itself during the press, had to buy another one.
Press in the wheel bearing wrong without supporting the inner race, so had to do the job twice.
All this, so I can put larger wheel studs in... I've never wanted to sell my car more than that night

Didn’t mean to go off-topic but…fwiw I have a blunted point on an air-chisel that fits into that dimple on the splined end that’s usually stuck in the hub. I’ve probably removed 3 or 4 FD axles from the hub using the air-chisel (aka: zip gun). And a couple in other cars. No fuss except sometimes a little cloud of rust dust, but no damage. But they all went back in with a little antiseize to help the next guy.

I had to trash a left rear upright and get a new own.

That axle was permanently attached.

Froze the axle - no help
40 ton press and Acetylene - no help

They went back together with silicone grease on them. Or maybe antiseize,
