Re-built Parts (steering racks, power steering pumps, etc.)
The last time I had to replace a steering rack I think it cost me around $1400 in parts alone (rebuilt rack). So I was pretty shocked when I was looking around here and found rebuilt stuff for so much cheaper. Here's rough prices from what I've seen:
Steering rack: $160 - 200
Power steering pump: $160 - $200 ($200 versions include an aluminum reservoir tank, $160 versions expect you to reuse the OEM one)
alternator: $120
These all require a core exchange within 1-2 weeks, of course. But this is an insane difference. I was already going to do some work around the steering rack anyway so I pulled the trigger on one and will report back later; may do the pump later, but for now mine seems fine.
