RE Amemiya Sleek Lights w/ Hella 90mm Headlamps
Finally took the time to install the Hellas that I had sitting around for the past couple months.
These bad boys...
http://catalog.com/susq/hella/90mm.htm
Took some modification of the RE frame, but with some encouragement, the Hellas fit (barely). Still need to secure them a little bit better (thinking on that one) and I need to aim them.
Just trying them out in the garage they look to give a much better spread of light. The high beams are blinding. Definitely better than the IPFs that come with the kit.
Whomever comes up with a light kit...use these lamps!

the prob with the REs is that they light like crap. The way the lights sit in the pod and the lights them selves cause the causes the actaul lighting form the RE kit to be really bad. I think its even worse then stock lighting, but i'm not sure about that.

Each headlamp is $65.95 with the connector (from the link that I listed previously). The connectors are necessary unless you happen to have some that will fit the H9 bulb.
I would have to say that the RE kit is worse than the stock headlamps. The IPF lamps that they used don't put out much of a beam, but are almost a fog light type spread. I never have really found much info on the IPFs, but I don't think that these were meant to be a headlamp for a car.
The Hellas sit a little further forward, they are deeper than the IPFs. They also protrude back further in the RE frame (which I had to mod). I need to spend some time on them this weekend. I take a couple picks and post.

I haven't had the chance to test them out at night yet. Maybe tonight...if I don't get roped into doing something.
I'll give a report soon on how well the beams function.

After I get them adjusted 100% and test them out on a dark night, I am going to take more pictures (of the mod to the RE framework) and post my comments. Hopefully by next weekend.

The IPFs suck real bad. I made some spacers to move the light assembly up and that helps some. I've been looking at these lights since you first posted this or someone else did in December. I know use my inside lights as the low beam and this seemed to help as well. Which way are you doing it mmaragos?

Generally speaking, how much better would you say your current setup (w/ the Hella's) is than stock? How much better than the RE lights? I know it's a tough call, but I'm looking at going HID someday (looooong from now, no cashola ) and want to know if I'm gonna go sleek or with something like the Knightsport kit where I can still have popups.

For the high beams...adjusted way too high for the way the lense of the bulb scatters/projects the light. I need to adjust them down...but I could see the tops of the big pine trees.
If I had it to do over, I would probably reconsider going for the RE kit, just a lot of expense and trouble. The Knightsport kit (pop up) looks nice, I like that, inherently, it should perform better.

Here are the lamps installed in their reworked frame. Tight, I know. I was going to clip the springs a little too, but I am going to leave them for now...I was considering longer screws.
