RE-Amemiya Intake

Hey guys, I just got an old school RE-Amemiya Intake off ebay. (there's a guy that runs a RX part store in texas, and he just posts what he gets, so I knew I was getting a good part, and not run of the mill ebay junk.)

Anyways, I was wondering what would be the best way to clean this foam filter, I know to clean from the inside out to push debri out rather than further in, but I don't know how safe it is to use water/chemicals to rinse the thing out. I did a quick search and couldn't find anything within an hour of looking, so sorry if this has been covered.

I'm under the impression that it is the first one made for the 3rd gen, it uses stock mounts and has the plumbing for the emissions system as well as the stock intake tubing. If you guys want a better idea of what this filter looks like, they have some at Rotary Performance, look in the clearance section of their site, there's a good picture of the unit.

lol, AFTER I post I see "related threds" and my question gets answered. Guess I need to swing by a motorcycle shop and get some foam filter cleaner/oil

but does anyone else have additional advice about cleaning methods and/or this particular intake? BTW I got this thing for $30 shipped, talk about STEALING.

You can use foam filter cleaner followed by oil - though be careful: if your filter is old it may fall apart when washed.

Thumbs up

I'll post up some pics later, maybe tomorrow. The outside grill is bent up, but the base and inner grill are still perfect, and the foam looks fine. I'm waiting til I get the thing apart to take pics, so you get a better representation of it inside and out, and not what just looks like a beat up old chicken cage.

Wink

He posts new items VERY often, and the easiest way to get what you want is to message him directly about what you want. It's all salvage, so when he get's his hands on junker, he parts the whole thing, and I do mean whole. Ask him about a bolt you stripped and he can prolly pull it for you. He's very honest about the condition of the parts as well, he mentions any defects if any.

you really should just replace the foam. This system was design to be replaced, not cleaned.

Where would I be able to buy a replacement foam core? I assumed this was out of production by now. If the foam is outrageously priced, I'd just deal with the one I've got until I eliminate the emissions plumbing and go aluminum ram. I mean how hard can it be to get $30 of use out of an intake.
