What, shift lights aren't allowed now? Better to have that then to take your eyes off of the road to watch your rpms.

Some peoples tachs like to dance to techno music even though nothing is playing on the radio. So a shift light could help.

If you look back of the posts asking about installing a shift light, the people generally get flamed. However, for the OP, you generally only need the tach signal. Check this link:

The Raptor is a good shift lite. I have one in each of my three FDs. I mount them on the driver A-piller. Setup is very easy.

lol... wow.... Cgotto6 and 4CN A1R are so ignorant.... amazing...

yes i would like a shift light because i like to keep my eyes on the road... if it keeps me from mis-shifting even once when im autocrossing or when im drag racing its worth it. I guess you guys don't race your cars.
+1 to what merlin said.

again you idiots will probably say listen to the engine... well obviously, but a little light that tells you when to shift isn't going to hurt anything will it??

just because u dont like shift lights doesnt mean it doesnt help. i dont really care if you dont like shift lights don't post stupid comments just to be ***.

In my race car (Formula Continental SCCA road racing), I used to shift by the tach. However, watching it was a real pain and caused me to take my eyes off the road too much. I now use a tach with a shift light, and I don't know how I ever got along without it.

Yeah - they are. But the FD is about as close as you can come to that (for the amount of money most of us can afford) in a car that you can use on the street.

i do apoligize for the harsh comments...if you would have stated your intentions i would have never reacted the way i did

yes i would like a shift light because i like to keep my eyes on the road... if it keeps me from mis-shifting even once when im autocrossing or when im drag racing its worth it. I guess you guys don't race your cars.
i have never found it a problem to glance at the tach every once and a while. if you are autocrossing i would think it a must for a junior driver.

and who buys an fd and doesnt race it..lol

again you idiots will probably say listen to the engine... well obviously, but a little light that tells you when to shift isn't going to hurt anything will it??
cant really listen for the appropriate time to shift when your car redlines at 7.5k. pretty much sounds the same from 5500k-redline. at least thats wat i've come to find out...

why the F*** should i have to state my intentions, it's a simple question that doesn't need stupid, useless replies.... I autocross and road race and have done so for years...a shift light does make it much easier to be watching the road... especially when u are looking 2 turns ahead.

badddrx7- did u do a write up i heard its different to install than regular tach shift light.

either way apology accepted just try to keep stupid comments to yourself.

It shouldn't be any different. It should only need a tach signal.

Hey, the man is right.....he asked a simple question and got flamed. If you cannot say anything positive here to help folks, then just stay off the thread. Remember what mama said to you when you were little " if you can't say something nice toward someone, then say nothing at all". Moderators should start kicking some ***.

Now for the hookup. I personally like the Raptor shift lite, enough to put one in all three of my FDs and my Z06. Positive to a switched 12v source, black to ground and the Green tach signal wire for the FD is the Y/L wire on terminal 2B at the ECU. Programming the raptor is easy - set it up on 4 cylinder and click the RPM switches to 7500 rpm ( at least this works for me ).

Report back on how you like it with pics.

I may get one of these also. Anyone that thinks a shift light is a waste of time, has never raced.

My FD is pretty loud and most times I shift by ear and glance at the tach. However at the drag strip I cant hear a damm thing. The first time I ran a old Mustang I was caught completly off guard. I couldnt hear my motor at all , just that Mustang until I was half way down the track.

I havent been on a road course yet but I would imagine a shift light must be a great thing to have . Post some photo's when you are done.
