random TPS question
i got my TPS set to the correct voltages, but now i'm wondering why i have a high idle (~1500rpm when cold, 1000rpm when warmed up)
in the howto's i found, they said to unscrew the idle air bypass screw on the bottom of the throttle body and i couldn't find it, so i'm guessing thats my problem... can somebody show/tell me where this screw is? i have the throttle stop screw backed all the way out and have the TPS adjusted perfectly for both the narrow and wide range, and i'm guessing the idle is high because of this mystery screw...

there are atleast 3 adjustment screws on the UIM that i can think of... one points straight up and is closer to the alternator, one is down by the oil filter pointing straight down, and one is on the top of the UIM pointing towards the drivers side.

3rd Gen owners are laughing all over the world.....The screw you are looking for is under the throttle body-driver side. Take your hand or an inspection mirror and look directly under the TB where the air inlet elbow bolts on. It is recessed back in a 5/8" diameter home - look for the slot of the screw head.

the first pic you posted is where the double throttle plate stop screw is supposed to go. it seems you are missing this.
the second pic you posted is where the main throttle stop screw goes. its an impressed phillips head screw with a lock nut on it. you also seem to be missing this one

rexhvn you just made me and other people dumbier by reading your post. Jacob the idle air bleed screw is easy to get to with the elbow on you just need a smaller screwdriver of course...its going to be a flathead(blade) screwdriver. Just feel around and youll feel the hole i guess...Also check for vac leaks you never know. How much was your TPS out of spec. Did the idle change like that after you adjusted it??? I dont see the idle changing that drasctailly if it wasnt even off that much. Also i guess you should also make sure the throttle cable is holding it open etc. good luck on getting your car going...im sure its something simple!
