Radiator Upgrade question

I purchased a Radiator for my 93 FD. I was wondering how would I install it since the Stock rad has 2 extra outlets that the aluminum doesnt have. Look at the pictures and you should see what I mean. Circled in red are the ones that the new rad does not have. Let me know. Thanks in advance.

I bought it second hand but its brand new unused. I was told that it was for an FD and if you check out this website the rad for 93 FD has one outlet as well.

I was also thinking this rad may require the AST elimination?

My car is a 5 speed Manual. The oem rad pic I found off the internet and it came out of an Fd, not sure if it was a auto or manual rad. Wonder if it makes a difference. My OEM rad is still on the car as I am still driving it.

Okay....so were you USING the other two hoses...somehow? Because that is a radiator for an automatic tranny FD. I am assuming there are clamps or block offs of some sort on the stock (automatic) radiator you took out?

In other words, I guess I don't get why you are freaking out over not having two hoses....that you weren't even using? If you didn't disconnect hoses leading into this old radiator, why worry?

all auto FDs have the 2nd cooler on the passenger side. Most other auto cars cool their fluid by passing through a section of the radiator.

My guess is mazda originally was going to cool the tranny the traditional way through the radiator but they realized the need for additional cooling.

I would give Ray at Malloy a call next week when he gets back in town, he may have some input for you. I've checked my parts pdf and it looks like you can just bypass the section with a hose.

Unless you have an automatic (and you don't), you don't need the 2 pipes shown on the OE picture - that one is for an automatic. The one you have circled on the aluminum rad pic is the AST nipple, so you are OK there - it has all the connections needed for a stick..
