Well I am currently in a dilemna. Its either I go with either a new Radiator, Intake, or a new Intercooler.

Which would you do?
I pretty much did everything else as far as the reliability mods and the boost pattern is a perfect 10. =)

 

Oh, the reason I would prefer to do a new radiator or intercooler upgrade is because the car runs pretty hot so I want to try to cool it down a bit.

 

I'd go with the radiator. The stock radiator has plastic end tanks that are known to fail and cost you a motor. Replace that as well as an aluminum AST if you havnt already.

 

I agree, radiator first. But as long as the endtanks look ok right now, you can really do them in any order.

If it helps, A good radiator and intake will add up to less than an intercooler, so I say do both of those now, and get the IC on the next round.

 

This is true. The 7's motor can not survive an overheat incident (o-ring failure). If you can't afford an aluminum radiator, go to a radiator shop and have the clean the core and replace the plastic water tanks "BEFORE" they fail.

 

In order of priority:

- Radiator (just good insurance, peace of mind)
- IC and Intake are almost the same, as in order to get a good stock mount IC you need an aftermarket CAI or similar.

You said you've performed the basic "reliabilty mods", did this include the fan mod? If you're running hot while running the fans then you need to flush your system, get an aftermarket radiator and make sure the gaps around your radiator/frame rails are sealed, also be sure you're running the undertray too.

Actually, I didn't do any fan mods and there is no AST as KDR recommended we just by-pass it.

 

I will most likely go with the koyo rad or fluidyne.

Hopefully, I will be able to get it later this month.

 

Dude, you gotta' do the fan mod! It is about the simplest thing to do and it'll save your bacon!

go with the radiator first...i have a fluidyne in mine....about the IC and intake...what exhuast mods do u have? if you don't have a dp yet, then get that...then get a cb...you can get a midpipe to get quite a diff in power but you will need some fuel mgmt like a petit ecu...then i'd go with the FMIC before you go intake.... the charged air will be cooler and having the mods i listed above, the bigger the intercooler then better cuz you will be going past 10psi...your turbos might also respond better from an FMIC then that tiny **** we have=) i just got an fd myself and i've learned a grip of these threads...good luck and have fun!

 

Right now I have a m2 dp, and a pettit cb.

I also have a PowerFC installed on the car.

Also, I ain't gonna raise the PSI.
No point shortening the life as I just got the car. =)

If I was doing it all over again, I would be doing the Rotary Extreme V-mount set-up. He is doing a group by through his www site for $2300 I think. This tackles everything you are in talking about here. (Except you will need a few more items for this set-up so the price goes up a bit!)

 

Nice set up. I'd like to see the engineering on it. Air flow analysis and such before spending $3k for the entire setup. It does appear to be sweet.
