quieter exhaust plan

When I got my car it had a custom made 3" pipe all the way from the turbo back with a borla muffler. It is needless to say that it is louder than absolute hell. I have some f-body friends and they use an extra straight through muffler where their cat used to be to cut down on the noise and notice no noticable horsepower loss. I was wondering if anyone on here has tried it and if so what is a nice (cheap) straight through muffler I can use? It will have to be a round type to fit I believe.

yeah, a resonator..

it goes between your dp and muffler.. somewhere along there, and cuts down the noise alot.

running no cat, and no resonator.. really nuts!

but yeah, just search for a resonator with a 3" inlet/outlet

A resonator is what you want. It will help some, but not a lot. It will still be very loud. If you get one, make sure it uses a stainless steel packing material. Fiberglass packing will burn out in no time at all because of the extremely hot rotary exhaust. Borla and Magnaflow make good quality resonators.

I agree with Adam -- with LS1's, that is the type of resonator they use to make their "loudmouth" exhausts. Stay away from Dynomax, as they use fiberglass.
