Quick warning to all who get their intake manifolds coated
All,
If you get your intake mainfolds coated and your coater uses some kind of bead blasting to clean it, make sure you try and blow compressed air through all of the nipples before you install it on your engine. I found three glass beads in various parts of my manifold after I got it back and I could only get them out by blowing compressed air through the manifold. At the worst, I'm pretty sure if one of those had gotten sucked into my engine I would have been in serious trouble. Even at the best, those beads were blocking air flow through the nipples they were stuck in and were bound to cause all sorts of various issues with anything attached to those nipples.
So, just a word of warning. Check your manifold after you get it back from the coaters .

Thanks for the heads up Andy. With all of the coated mani's I've sold, I've always sent out a PM/email with a similar warning, but in your case I neglected to do so, sorry about that.
I remember years ago a guy I knew had his engine rebuilt at our shop, then had his mani's coated somewhere else. He put the motor in the car and it immediately failed . Those little beads wreck havoc on apex seals.

It has always been GOOD standard practice to clean any parts coming from a machine shop no matter how clean they look.
After side housings are lapped, wash them and use small brass spiral brushes to clean out the oil passages. I fine that the brass brushes used to clean out 22 and 38 caliber guns work great.
Isn't that so, Rich?

OK, back on topic: Any part that has had metalwork done should be thoroughly cleaned, regardless of how insignificant it may seem. That is literally rule no. 1 before any engine assembly.
