Question Quick stock bov question?

I just vented my stock bov about two weeks ago and now under boost it sounds like all the air is rushing out and the valve isn't closing. Could the spring be defective?

yeah it sounds like **** vented. just plug it back in or get an aftermarket one. the stock ones do break. everything breaks at some point.

My BOV's are vented and they sound like a huge rush of air when they release, but I get perfect boost and vacuum...guess you really won't know until you get that boost gauge. I personally think the stock ones sound damn good vented!

when I bought the car, it had all the mods I could think of except BOV's...I wondered why this was left out, but when I got the car and heard the stock BOV's vented, I was rather impressed so I have decided to stay with the stockers until I guess I get bored with them lol

Really? Hmm.. I've been running my stock one vented for almost 5 years now and it's never given me a problem. Most people don't NEED aftermarket ones, their stock ones work fine for their application.

You are correct. However, mine wasn't working well at all which is why I continue to use the XS bov the previous owner installed. I'm not a fan of the aftermarket bov sound but its doing the job better than the stock one I had...

you my friend have charge control actuator problems. Find a vacuum hose routing diagram. Look on there for the charge control actuator, also the charge control valve and also the charge control solenoid. These all control the butterfly thats supposed to open at transition/ 4500 rpms. I had the same identical problem. This booooop sound instead of the psst. It turned out to be a cut vacuum line that went to the charge control solenoid. Check all of the vacuum lines that go to and from those three areas. Its a weekend job as you will have to take the upper intake manifold off. good luck.

the stock bov sounds much better than my blitz. the blitz is much more muted. course i havent loosened the screw, but i got much more sound out of my stock BOV. the stocker opens at lower vacuum so it will "leak" before it releases.

i have the blitz as well.Trust me about the charge control thing. Ive been there. Whenever your blow off valve sound changes from what it usually sounds to something not as loud it means you arent building up as much boost which in turn means you dont release as much pressure either. Think about it.
