Quick spook ideas from the 996TT forum..

I read this on the 996TT forum and wondering if it could be applied to an 13B? I could be full of **** thinking it would work on a rotary... but sounded interesting enough to share..

"One last thing to note, when I was developing chips for the 944 Turbo S, we did some neat things to reduce lag. We'd retard the timing severely on the decay cycle and dump extra fuel in. It would create a very intense temperature spike in the exhaust for the few moments after lift off and keep the energy going into the turbocharger sufficient to really make some useful boost when back on the throttle. We did this all with the DME. You can also pipe your CBV back into the turbocharger exhaust housing and when the extra fuel comes in, bang, bang and you have true anti-lag."

I believe this is the same "anti-lag" method most ralley turbocharged cars use.

One of the reasons you see enormous flames comming out their exhausts.

I suppose there is a small explosion inside the exhaust on lift-off and this keeps the turbo spooled up when you get back on the throttle.

With PFC and Datalogit you can do this. 1/2 life of turbos is shorter.

yup TTT nailed it, thats what the WRC rally cars use to keep the turbo spooled constantly. I am not sure about the SCCA Pro Rally cars but pretty sure they use the same technique, those cars are practically flame throwers on wheels. They shoot more flames than WRC cars do. They also run more HP than WRC cars do as well......

Also, why does it shorten the life of your turbos? Higher running temperatures I suppose?
