Quick question about air pipes.

Quick question, there is two metal pipes right near the intake pipes/uim. One of these I believe is normally connected to the outlet from the air pump, then to the block. I have a set of block off plates that blocked this off. The second one I think normally goes to the air box and then back around to the top of the block via a rubber pipe and then a 90 degree metal elbow. It reeks of exhaust. If this isn't descriptive enough I can take a picture of the part.

Anyway, is there someone who can tell me what that is for and if I can block it off?

Thanks.

I'm definitely not talking about the acv, that I can see and I have plates for that, though I haven't gotten rid of it. This is something that goes into the top of the block. I'll try to get a picture of it tomorrow.

It sounds like you have the air pump removed and those are the pipes you are talking about, otherwise I don't see how intake pipes would smell of exhaust other then they just happen to be in the same location as an exhaust leak.

Yes, I have the airpump removed. I was trying to make sure everything I blocked off is ok, that one specifically didn't have a block off plate in the kit from rx7store.net so a friend fabbed one up for me.

As it turns out Damian is going to help me out this weekend hopefully so I'll ask him what he thinks. I'll get some pics with the uim off as well.

Thanks for the posts everyone.

Just an update, Amp you were correct (naturally) that it was the pipe going into the acv. I was thinking that wasn't part of the acv but was the block, but that was wrong, it's the acv.

What was screwing me up is that I have the block off plate kit and I knew it had plates for the acv, but this didn't look like it was part of the acv. So, if I rip off the acv my temporary plate will come off with it and I'll take the plate from the kit and cover the hole.

Thanks to everyone for the help.

Also, man are Damians new track car (and his '95) perty.
