Quick Q: Exhaust gasket

So then the connection between my HKS catback and stock cat isn't perfectly tight enough. I have to use 2 of the stock gaskets to make sure there's no leak.

A friend told me that they (somebody) makes the same sized gasket, but it's like twice the thickness, therefore making the connection perfect. Does anyone know what I'm talking about, and where I can buy one?

Why do you need two gaskets? Why can't you tighten it enough? You should fix that problem and use a normal gasket.

I think it's maybe the way the pipes are hanging a bit lower at the connection joint, thus making the gap a lil bigger than it's suppose to be. I've checked all connection points and they seem to be just fine. But 2 gaskets has solved the problem for now, I just would like to use one gasket that's all.

You should be able to just tighten the crap out of it. I mean if that area is hanging lower, raise it up while your tightening it and it should stay.

What about going to a hose and gasket store with your old gasket so they can make you one as you need it . In Nachville there are several stores, Garfinkle uses Nashville Rubber and Gasket. That is where he gets the aircraft tubing for the bigger gas lines he makes. Rubber hoses ,o-rings ,gasket material ect,ect. Even square section 0-ringe for the y pipe joint.

Yeah I've also tried doing that, but knowing how old and fragile the studs on the cat are, I don't want to over tighten them to the point where they'll break off and then I'd have to buy a whole new cat. I checked with Mazda and they don't sell those kinds of studs nor exhaust gaskets separately. And besides, one of the studs is partly stripped, but I still manage to get it on, with the help of over spraying with those WD40 crap.......

Blah...... I seriously would look for some stores like that but I'm kinda busy these days, especially with finals..... thanks for the suggestion...
