Questions about what seats fit good in FD's

Im finally getting to drive my FD after paying a crap load of money (but I decided I needed a T04Z turbo and other stuff) to make it run, but I hate my tan seats and I wanted to buy some reclinable racing seats, like sparcos, bride, momo etc...

I know some seats rub the doors and stuff, I was just wondering what seats look good, fit good, and dont sit too high. Im looking for seats that would pretty much feel like stock, height wise...And where is a good place to buy these seats for best price...

Also when putting a 99 spec bumper on my FD, will most just bolt on or do you need any reinforment stuff?

And does anybody know good websites to find some different bodykits, because all the ones I have seen have just had like cwest replicas and stuff like that.

I have searched and have not come up with what Im looking for so dont flame me.

Thanks alot,
Bobby

to my knowledge, the only racing seats that fit the FD are the OEM Sparco's that can be found in JDM RZ and Spirit R models and a specific Bride seat, which costs more than the RZ or Spirit R seat, and you need to get 1 USDM drivers seat and 1 JDM drivers seat, otherwise the passanger seat will rub.

I don't believe that is true, I remember seeing quite a few seats that will fit in the FD. Also the RZ and Spirit R's seats are made by Recaro. Im sure the info's on here somewhere, try a search and see what you come up with.

I have a recaro seat in my FD. It doesn't fit.

Most people just deal with the fact that most aftermarket seats ruin your door panels. Additionally, most people with aftermarket seats don't really care what their door panels look like.

I have searched it and havent come up with much...

You guys with seats that rub the door panels how bad is it? does it make it hard to close the door? And do your seats sit high?

And the aftermarket seats you are talking about do they have fixed backs or reclinable? because my car is a street car as well and I hate driving my 240sx around with no reclinable seats.

And have any of you guys seen the Bride Brix seats on ebay for like 599 plus shipping for a pair? I dont know if they are knock offs or what that is why I hate ebay, other than the $100 engine harness I just bought.

And if Im putting a 99 spec front bumper on Do I need anytihng to put it on?

My seat is much lower than stock. It's not much harder to closer the door, either, but the seat moves when the door opens and closes. I hate that.

It's really not that bad, but there's little notches in my door panel from where the seat hits and it drives me nuts. If I had the car in my posession right now, I could take pictures so you could judge for yourself.

I know my friend who has the Bride seats that fit paid somewhere in the neighborhood of $6k for both. OEM Recaros cost around $4k for the pair, IIRC. I'm not sure if Bride makes a low end seat or not, but at $600, I'd be skeptical. I'd also be skeptical of an engine wiring harness that costs $100. It may not be as functional as you hope(or it may be a seller who had no idea what a good one is worth).

As for reclining, some OEM models have a tilting feature, but AFAIK, they are fixed back. From what I've heard, the tilting feature more than makes up for the fixed back though. IDK about any other racing seats with adjustable backs.

For the 99spec front end, you need to either buy the Knightsports wiring harness adapter or cut and splice the wires to fit your stock wiring harness. You'll also need to grind down the turnsignal openings in the rebar, or buy the 99spec rebar($600, YIKES!!).

whew...I think that's everything.

Corbeau A4's and CR1's fit in the FD without issues. Corbeau also has FD specific seat rails. However, Corbeau may not be your cup of tea; but you can use those seat measurements to find something you like which will fit.

SLOASFK-whenever you can could you take pics that would help alot, and thanks for all the info....Hey and watch Recardo seat do you have?

And my wiring harness was cut and used on a car with all the same stuff as mine (powerFC,single turbo (T04Z), and stuff like that) The guy sells alot of them and he wanted $350 but since I won the auction he let me have it for $100, and it works fine.

Mahjik-The A4's size looked like Sparco's Torino/miliano (Im sure those are spelled wrong) Corbeau looks alright I just have never used them? Everyone likes them pretty good? And are the a little bit cheaper than like Sparco,Momo,Bride etc..

I need a seat that will be comfortable for me too, Im like 6'1'' 34inch waist 185 lbs.

I don't think their "Wide" versions will fit. The A4's don't really have huge side bolsters so it shouldn't be an issue "fitting" in them with a 34" waist as they are designed for up to 36". The Wide version is for up to 40" waist which I don't think you'll require.

A lot more "Lazy Boys" are sold than car seats. Therefore the amount of profit which is needed to be made on each sell is a lot less, which translates into lower prices. If price is an issue, then Corbeau will be your best choice for seats for the FD (aside from picking up something used).

www.rx8club.com would be the best place to pick up used RX-8 seats. I believe the RX-8 seats will fit with stock FD rails, but they aren't racing seats...actually, they seem a lot like FD seats, except with rotors in the neck area instead of the slit for a racing harness.

Another reason seats are expensive is for safety. An FIA approved seats is more expensive than a cheap e-bay seat with no safety approvals. The extra expense may be the difference between life and death or walking verus being paralized in an accident.
