Question: Where is ODB II connector?
Question: Where is ODB II connector?
Hello.
I tried to get a state inspection today, and the guy at the garage couldn't find the ODB connector to hook up.
I don't know if previous owner of my car used OBD II to connect Power FC or not... hopefully not. Well, where is it?

Then how do we get it inspected without connecting anything ?
How did you guys get inspected?
PA has a separate set of inspection/emission requirements for 96 and older cars. Naturally, that doesn't require OBD stuff. Does your inspector have a clue? I would think this is daily-use information they should know deeply.

yea im kinda perplexed that they don't have any idea how to inspect a car without a OBD connector lol. Is this a private place or is this the state place?

I'm pretty sure the "diagnosis" connector in front of the drivers side strut tower is the OBD I connection. The cover may have broken off of it so the "diagnosis" may be missing. Just look for a black connector that faces the sky near the fuse box by the battery.

The diagnosis connector won't do a thing for an emissions test.
Now every car is wired up like an EKG.
FYI to those with newer daily drivers(Not the FD or earlier):
If your battery goes dead or must be replaced, don't try and smog it before putting on at least 50-75 miles of "operational road history" it records. Not enough driving history found, the car fails to report.

yea theres no actual OBD I connecter in these cars... like he said the diag box wont tell what they want to see
if they dont pass you, offer the guy a 30 pack and 50 bucks... he'll pass you

it is an obd I car. the standard connector and location were part of the US obd II emission laws. newer emissions testing want a full drive cycle for obd ii tests. they have found that a newer obd iIIcar will be evey bit as sensitive to any emmision irregualrities as a "smog" run so it is cheaper to just run the system check out. full drive cycle with no codes should be a clean running car. it is hard to get the evap sys to run it's check sometimes.
