a question for those who shoot flames

hi, i had a question for those who shoot flames, do you leave the car in gear and simply lift off the gas a little, or do you lift off the gas all the way, or do you lift off all the way and clutch in.

also, has anyone ever taken out their anit-afterburn valve?

I put a lighter really close to my butt and then have some one pull my finger.
I can do it under WOT, between shifts. I also do it by talking my foot of the gas at around 4500 rpm's you can do it with a lil gas too.

the anit-afterburn valve injects air so that you dont spit flames. sopposedly if you take it off though (from what i have read) you will get bad idle among other things.

yea its called a rice flame thrower...

flames cool if your car is fast and has no cats
flames cool if you have late 40-50's hot rod
flames gay when your cars slow and want to show off
flames suck when cops see them @ night

theres my take on it

anti-afterburn valve??

i think you are talking about the air pump.

having or not having the air pump has no effect on shooting flames. the air pump is only needed if you still have the main cat. if you still have the main cat, it is nearly impossible to shoot flames.

The anti-afterburn valve uses air supplied from the airpump. That is why when you remove the airpump your idle goes to ****, and the car begins to backfire more. The air pump is used for more than just the cat. In the service manual it's known as the secondary air injection system. With the airpump on, air is pumped into the LIM which burns off the extra fuel to reduce emissions, and smooth out the idle. Air is also pumped into the cat to reduce emissions.

So how do we get mega flames like the 7s in the "World of Rx7 forum video 1" instead of the little "pops" of fire like in glassmans video? (no offense glassman)

That little pop was at 30 mph, and the tip is 4.5'. If you want to see more, I suggest you get really close behind me when I down shift around 70 or 80 mph.
