Question on RB exhaust

I was wondering if i would be fine to go to rx7.com and get the rb dual exhaust and run it with the stock fuel set up. I believe that the exhaust comes with the muffler and the downpipe right?? here is a pic of what u get when u buy it for $515.

It's a two-piece catback - the muffler itself, and a pipe leading from the muffler to the catalytic converter. This pipe is not a 'downpipe'. Downpipes lead from the turbos to the catalytic converter.

Many people run a cat-back, intake, and downpipe on the stock ECU. But you'll want a boost gauge so you're absolutely certain your peak boost doesn't go more than 11psi because of the mods.

If your car is all stock, but you're adding the cat-back, you'll be VERY OK. Even downpipe/catback is still fine - once you add an intake you're starting to push your luck.

The RB cat-back is a VERY nice piece, BTW.

Yeah, i'm thinking of RB because i dont like those loud fart-cans like hondas. RB is just about stock and gives a good sound under a load. I had a feeling it wasnt the downpipe just making sure. Should i get a downpipe also or just leave it alone for now. I defiantely want to get a boost guage, along with water temp. and oil temp.

If your car is stock, then the most important mod you can do is to install a downpipe. And yes, the RB is a great cat-back for those of us not interested in losing our hearing.

Recently installed a downpipe and the racing beat on my dad's car and it sounds amazing. Suprisingly quiet compared to my non-sequential setup straight into the racing beat. You will not be dissapointed.

N1 is loud. M2 is out of business.

You should really consider a downpipe. Check out the newbie FAQs for information. It helps reliability by reducing heat as well as power.

I got the RB because I think the others don't have a good sound to them. The RB with a downpipe has a nice sound, and it's not much louder than stock, but at full throtle it dosen't have that SSSSSSSSSSSSSS sound of stock setups, and dosen't sound like a flatulant Honda. I also gained 18 HP at the rear wheels ( you'll gain HP with most cat-backs). Be warned, without the pre-cat, the rotery "backfire" will become noticable again, some care, some don't.

Like others said, it's a two piece cat back. The downpipe is NOT included.

I have the RD dual tip on my FD and love it. Highly recommended!

The biggest single thing you can do is eliminate the precat and go with a new DP. It's a must. Search for the fan mod if you want some addl cooling.
Have you been here:http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/

I've been wondering where I can post this pic I have - figured what better place than here?
How can you have the stock muffler hanging on your car for one more second after seeing this

Yup:

do here and look under 'Reliability Mods':http://robrobinette.com/index.htm

Rob's site has a lot of pop-up ads, but it is another great resource.

The rb are good but aren't they on the heavy side compared to other aftermarkets?

Yes, they are. But weight and noise supression seem to be related in some way. I like light stuff, but it is worth the few extra lbs to me to keep my hearing and run the RB cat back.
