question: p/s pulley removal

I'm trying to remove the p/s pulley and in the service manual the tool required to hold it down looks completely different from the ones the local auto stores carry.

You can just have someone hold the pulley steady by wrapping a belt around the pulley and holding on while you crank on it. Assuming you don't have air tools.

I soaked the retaining nut in PB Blaster overnight and then, with the help of a friend who held the pulley with a large pipe wrench, loosened the nut with a 1/2" ratchet.

Your only other option, as I see it, is to shell out the money for the SST from Mazda.

Just get a battery powered impact wrench. It will come in handy in more situations than just this.

I don't think you need the P/S bracket to mount the engine to a stand, but you do need a engine stand adapter with most engine stands to hold a 13B.
