Question on a FD thats been sitting for 4 years

I'm going to be flat bedding an FD to my house this month that has been parked and not been started in 4 years. What is the first thing I should do to get it started. It turns and sounds like it wants to fire up but nothing. I was told its the plugs but thought I would ask some of you pro's.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Plugs, Oil Change, maybe even throw some MMO to pre-lube the seals.

Might be a given but I'll say it just in case... drain the fuel and put new stuff in there.... Also make sure the plug wires are in good shape.

1. remove front and rear plugs, pour ATF fluid in, crank the engine w/o the plug wires attached so that it will lubricate the apex seal.

2. Crank again. Change coolant, change oil

3. Replace the fuel filter,

4. drain the tank if you can b/c that **** is just gummy now.

5. put in new gas.

6. fire it up.

If it doesn't fire up b/c the injectors are stuck,

you'll have to remove injectors and insert new ones or used ones in good condition.

Be prepared for lots of smoke if you do the ATF trick.

Will it eventually burn away or will I have to change the oil again?

I thnk those steps are overkill. Change the oil, make sure it has coolant, fresh charge on the battery and hit the key. If you really want to put some oil in the chamber just remove the intake manifold bolts (but not all the hoses and wiring) lift it up a little and pour in a little oil. Don't go overboard with the oil, you need very little.

If it doesn't fire up there could be a lot of reasons.

No compression on one rotor would be one reason. I've started up many a FD and TII that has sat for a while and haven't dealt with stuck injectors, yet.

It may seem like it'll not burn away after a while, but "Eventually" it'll burn away...

The compression and rotors should be fine, the car only has 23,900 miles on it. It was running fine when it was last parked.

Could be a blown motor, thats why it probably sat for 4 years.
Mine sat for 2 with a blown motor.

You should tow it to Mazda and do a compression test..

Don't think so. Just prudent steps to ensure a long life on the motor.

Cranking with ATF will help if the apex seal is rusted.. Also build compression.

Gas in the tank for 4 years, that **** will ruin your engine.

Stuck injectors - I had a set that was in a wrecked car for 3 years. They were stuck, had to get RC to clean it.

Talk about gross neglect! I'm curious to know, why was the car not started at all for 4 years?

Ok heres the story.

93 Rx7 Touring.. Was crashed/totaled in 97. A co-worker's daughter purchased the car and had it shipped to NH to start the repair process. No frame damage but most body parts had to be replaced including a rim. I have receipts for all the work she had done which added up to 20 grand give or take. That included all body parts replaced, car painted and a bunch of misc. stuff. She replaced all 4 rims and mounted brand new goodyears on all 4. had it delivered to the mazda dealer to go over the front end... I have the receipt from mazda which included replacement of bearings, bushings, ball joints and other things. They also aligned the front and rear and balanced the new rims/tires. That receipt came upto $2300. from mazda.

About four years ago things turned out for the worst for the daughter and she is no longer . So the car has been sitting for 4-5 years and the parents cant stand to see the car anymore. He told me about it and said he'll let it go for three thousand cause he doesnt know anything about it and also that it has been sitting for all those years. I went to look at it, took some pictures and gave it a good look over.. I did notice a garden snake in the engine bay but thats because they live near woods. I offered him $2500. which he agreed on.

Its a greyish color with the black interior (leather). It needs a front bumper and a drivers side air bag which she never got around to doing.
