Question...With Emissions on my 1994 Rx-7

Trying to get it to pass Emissions in at the Delaware DMV.It fails the part when they stick the thing into the muffler.

It can only be like 1.0 and it reads 2.5 or something.I replaced the Oxygen Sensor but still same problem.

When I take car to DMV they make me run it 3,000 RPM +.My Mech told me this car wont run the same as a piston engine.

Anyone have any idea's ?

Thanks.

Mods?

You should pass without problems if you have a good main cat, air pump, and either a stock ECU or properly tuned programmable ECU.

Generally it helps to put some alcohol in the tank and make sure the car warmed up as possible - drive it for a good 20-40min and get it tested as soon as possible. While waiting in line at the DMV, rev the engine plenty to keep it hot.

What's an "exhaust" mean? Do you have a cat?

Have your mechanic take a look at the following things:

1. Verify that you do have a main cat on the car and its in working order
2. Verify that the airpump line is connected to the main cat
3. Verify that the airpump is working
4. Verify that the ACV is functioning properly

That should get you started.

Once those things are verified, try a new set of plugs. And make sure it's at full operatiing temperature before testing.

That's a tough test. The air pump is designed to shut off around 3,2xx rpms. I had assumed most emissions' control was performed below those rpms....cruise and around town driving.

I would think most cars o2 feedback would not be utilized as you accelerate to enter a highway or pass another vehicle.
