Question Question on Differential....

I was changing my diff fluid one day and I found 4 gear teeth comming out of the drain plug~~~!!! But the car still runs fine and it still runs strong... but no for long I presume. So what are my options when my diff blows out???
I heard about the 87-88 TII diffs... but do they even last?? or will they ever break again since its pretty old.
or
Are there any aftermarket diffs out there that we can use?
or
how much do used FD diffs cost and how can I get them?

I searched the thread to but it seems no one really has a diff problem...hehehe.

Well i know they cant slip cus its not a clutch type, the T2 diffs are supposed to be more stout than ours so i would go with that. There are also many aftermarket units available, the'll pop into the for sale section every once in a while.

What did these teeth look like? They could be from the helical gears in the Torsen carrier. In that case, I would be very careful. https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...=1#post4743495

Man, if you pulled teeth out of it, I would say you are on its last legs. Any sort of large shavings out of the differential is usually a bad thing. LOL. Personally, I blew the stock Torsen and it still drove. It wasn't pretty sounding, but it made it home. I wouldn't try it again. I would say go ahead and get either a stock replacement, a TII or an aftermarket unit. I went with the KAAZ 1.5 and it is super chunky. I wouldn't recommend it unless you were hardcore. The stock FD Torsen would really be fine for normal street use. You honestly don't need anymore than that.
