Question about Oil Pressure Gauge on 93 RX7
Hi Everyone:
I am in the market for an RX7 and today was my first test drive on an RX7...specifically a 93. I was happy overall about the condition of the car, it drives smooth, engine is awesome, but my only concern is the oil pressure. When I was driving it, I noticed that when i'm at a stop or idle, it's in the low 1/4 range, but when I step on the gas, the gauge moves up to about 3/4 till I let off and it starts going down again. Is this normal? I asked the seller about this and he said that this is normal, but I wanted a second opinion. So could someone answer my question? Please bear with me if i'm asking a newbie type of question about the RX7.

the stock sender unit on the cars tend to clog or become dirty, which makes them show low pressure at low rpms....but then again the stock gauge isent very accurate to begain with.

Oil pressure should vary as the load on the engine varies (more load, higher pressure).
The only thing you need to worry about is the gauge should never read 0 while the engine is on. If you see the gauge at 0 while the engine is on, then the sender is either dirty or failing (or you have a bigger problem).

My hopes is that when someone else new ask the question, the person I just helped can then in turn help the next new person. Surprisingly, I've seen it happen a few times on the forum.

Yea, I should be good to go. Calipers are rebuilt, new SS lines and a new master cylinder. I just took the car for a spin and it's nice to have brakes again. I need to get the brake pedal adjustment set, then another power bleed and I should be good to go.
I think Matt (we got the engine installed yesterday, but have few bugs to fix) and I are going to take a trip out to Hallet for the September 25-26th event. You are more than welcome to join us if you can.
