yet another seq. vs. non seq. question

I have a 94 auto car that I have been diagnosing a boost issue with for a few days now- turned out to be the cat came apart and partially plugged the muffler inlet. Anyway, while diagnosing things, I did the poor mans non-seq. mod to try to eliminate everything from the "loop" to try to pinpoint the problem. My question- I have gone from sequential to non seq. before on my 5 speed FD, but with the auto I am wondering if it is best running sequential so I have a bit more of a hole shot. Anyone with auto experience care to comment on the difference in pull between the two? I liked it with the 5 speed, but I was also able to get the rev's up quicker. I am thinking it may holeshot better in seq. with the autos. Any opinions?
