question about going over 100 mph
my car has no wheel wells and no front lip or underbelly when i hit speeds up over 100 it doest feel smooth its kinda terrifying the hood begins to hover and i feel the car rising in the front. its so bad tat i fee like if i take a turn to sharp it will spin out. what do u guys think it is all those pieces missing or maybe its time for new suspension? please healp thanks.christopher

ya i figured theres a lot of air geting underthere i was just curious if anyone else had this problems plus i realy dont feel like replacing my suspension. im still open to thought on the susbject.thanks
and most times when im passing someone or even merging onto the highway ill get up to 100+ without even realizing it
PLEASE replace your parts or take the car off the road. It really isn't that expensive and you will be happy with the results.
More and more FDs are running around looking like ****, it just gives credence to those people that say they are cheap and ricey. Put it this way: I have never seen a fucked up looking Supra prowling around. Nor say...a Porsche 944S. People tend to have pride in those cars and won't drive them if they are missing pieces.

I agree.
I dont condone racing at all but sometimes when im merging onto a highway and i see its clear, i go a bit fast. I dont even look at my tach and speedo. I just listen to the engine.
There was one time i had the music blasting and i was having fun one night, i looked at the speedo and i was doing 125 lol.
You need to get the parts my friend,
If your missing the undertray, that exposes the radiator and A/C to stone damage and will also mess up the aero. I believe the undertray helps draw air through the rad as well.
If new parts are too expensive see if you can get second hand from a breakers yard or EBay. Buy a new front lip if you want to (most of the second hand ones get badly marked).

Amen. Not to mention what you're doing is dangerous. Have you ever stuck your hand outside a car window at 60 mph and used it as an airplane wing? Now imagine the entire front of your car acting like wing. Air, at high speed, has tremendous force. Don't be an idiot. Engineers put a lot of thought into designing the excellent aerodynamics of the 3rd Gen RX-7. Replace the missing pieces and don't drive at high speed until you do.
i havnt been that fast in over 2 years. i dont have fender liners anymore because of clearance for bigger tires and wheels. curious to see how that works out here soon. i dont plan to need to go that fast so im not too worried about it.
with the indertray i would be more worried about cooling as well.

yeah, I do this too, but if his car can't handle 100+ at the moment then he should make an effort to not do it, it really isn't that hard to do
Ray Crowe has a special on the underbelly pan and the R1 lip going on through the end of August.

Yeah, like everyone else said, replace the **** that you're missing. In my buddies FD, we were doing ~150 once(at 2am and he is crazy) and despite the road being less than idea, the car didn't have a problem with lift. Mazda put that **** on there for a reason...you freaking need it.
How many miles are on your car? Maybe it's your suspension? I also do some runs in my FD and feels like the front lifts, my car is in perfect order with a very aggressive port s366 turbo and everything done under the hood. I personally think it's due to the power and it's normal.
Here's a picture of my setup.

After I did some work on my car I took it with one fender liner and undertray removed. My car is completely stable at those speeds. I do have tein coil overs and a feed front end, it might be that you need a suspension upgrade.

The only time I feel like the front end is lifting is when it is under full power. Which happens by the dynamics of power under acel, but usally settles down after 1st gear. But BOTH yes I said both of my FD’s don’t feel like the front end is lifting @ 100, 120, hell even the few 140-140+ runs they have on them. Usally you can drive the FD up to 120 with 1 hand……. One is the drag car as you can see the stats in my signature. And the other is a 320hp, all the bolt on’s street car.
One of the interesting things I took from GTR training in Vegas (yes I work @ a Nissan Dealer and I’m the GTR rep) was how sensitive supercars are to changing in the aerodynamics. Literally every piece of plastic has a purpose, sure many times people re-engineer parts to improve upon the original design, but under trays, wheel linings, underbody shield have a TREMENDOUS affect on airflow, and in key positions like these can make a car handle and feel 100% different. Without the underbody air being properly directed, the turbulence @ high speeds can create a positive air chamber under the car, and the feeling of the front end lifting is definitely plausible. And @ that speed the volume of air is enough to lift our light front ends up….
Bottom line, replace the parts, then think about the suspension…. Ive driven FD’s with 130k on the original Base model suspension and never felt the front end lift as your describing.
get a scoot hood....j/k
I have a missing wheel weld too and also missing the under side
tray ..I did take my FD up to 160 and the same thing... the Fiber glass hood looked like it was about to lift off.... but it held ..I wont be doing it again...(until i find the parts i need)

My 7 felt smooth at 170mph, almost like it was flying. However, I had all the windows up, the sunroof shut, a front spoiler (99'), under tray, and a rear spoiler (r1).
As far as the car being aerodynamic, it's rock solid. That is, IF it's complete. In other words, yes, you will need to get those minor, yet crucial, aero parts to keep the car in balance at top or higher speeds.
Trust me, it's a lot cheaper than salvaging a wrecked car. Let her rest until you can afford or get the parts in. It's worth the wait.

my car's undertray isnt installed right now, i went a lil over 130 the other night with no lift problems. In the past i've gone 165- 170 though i cant recall if the undertray was on during all those times or not. I don't think it by itself will cause a huge difference in lift, but maybe all the parts missing together will make more of a difference.
