Exclamation Question about DEFI Boost Gauge

When I opened the box, the needle was pointing in a vertical position @ about 20 lbs. I installed it and started the car but something still doesn't seem right. At idle it's showing 11 lbs of boost When I shut it off the needle returns to the vertical position @ about 20 lbs. Is there something I connected wrong? I have the vacuum hose going to the spare nipple on the UIM and the power wires to the ashtray bulb (same way I had my Auto Meter hooked up). Please help!

Is yours a Defi D gauge? Brand new, mine came with the needle exactly at "0". Sounds like yours is broken.

I agree, its broken. I also run DEFI D-gauges and my boost has never been off zero when disconnected.

Well, I returned the defective one and they sent me a new one... had to polish the new one again, but I think it turned out better than the first...

It's hard to tell form the pic, but the ring has a mirror-like finish to it... you can see your reflection. I'll try to snap some better pics.

That is a sweet boost gauge. I like the look of the whole series, but damn they're expensive. lol.

Glad Defi took care of the broken unit.

This might be a dumb question, but what do you use to polish the lip? A dremmel tool and what kind of bit?

mine too. i wouldn't worry a whole lot about it. i've heard it's quite normal for boost gauges to do that because of the ground level you're at

Yep, with a polishing wheel bit and polishing compound. The texture of the ring is pretty smooth, so you don't have to sand it first. Just dip the bit in the compound and buff it to a hazy finish and then use some Mother's aluminum polish on a soft cloth to get the mirror finish. Also, use masking tape to cover the face to avoid scratching it.
