A question about corner seals.

And look at your side seals where they met the corner seals and rode along the housing as well.
If the side seal tips are worn off at an angle you know the ports weren't scissored well.
From the pics it looks like the upper outside corner of the port is rounded too shallow and the tip could hit (especially on the 2nd port pic from Left), but need better pics. No bevel on the top of the ports either.
Those ports look EXACTLY like the ones I had sideseal trouble with .
Anyways, it would be rare for this to cause a failure on the primary port side anyways as the sideseal has much less time to fall into the shorter primary port, usually it is on the secondary ports.
Here is my template that shows the paths of the sideseals. You can see how it is important to have a sharp edge on that outside upper corner once you drop the leading side seal.

We have never used corner seal plugs. One reason is on a larger port they will fall out. A collapsed side seal from over porting would happen within the first hundred miles or so. As I recall Ball Joint has had the motor for a while, not sure of the time frame but its been over a year, maybe longer. Side seal failure from a clearance issue would also happen pretty quick.

The motor actually blew in the Summer of 2007 and I was too broke to fix the motor till recently. Don't worry RX7 store I'm not implicating you guys for building a bad motor. I was just curious about the corner seal plugs.
The motor blew because the wire loom going to the omp got caught in the crank pulley and cut four of the wires. The only lubrication the motor was getting was from the 4oz of premix I throw in with every tank. Screw OMP's, I'm now running straight premix.
The motor also could have blown because I was in a hard left hand turn and accelerated hard out of the apex with only a quarter tank of gas in the car. This could have starved the motor and leaned it out.
Anyway, the motor runs great now and I will probably be heading down to you guys to get the motor re tuned.
