Question about carpet

I'm getting ready to install some new carpet in my FD. I have already removed the dash and removed the old carpet. I'm going to lay some dynamat down on the floor pan, but the dynamat is kinda heavy. So I was wanderin if i could remove the rubber backing and the foam off my carpet to offset some of the weight I'm gonna be adding. Will the carpet fit ok w/o the foam and rubber backing? Or do i have to leave it on? thanks

The amount of weight your taking about it hardly worth the hassle in my opinion. What are you looking at saving maybe 5lbs? I would leave well enough alone but if your mind is set on it...

I don't think the carpet is going to sit properly in the floor pan. It will most likely seem a little loose when your done. I have not personally removed that foam though so you might find otherwise.

The foam allows the carpet to fit the contours of the floor properly, and it hardly weighs anything anyways. Don't remove it.

The foam also insulates the heat from the undercarriage. Otherwise your FD interior will get hot.

The worst part is that you have to remove the dashboard. Most people would probably consider that to be in the "pain in the ***" range of difficulty.
