Question about 99 spec turbos

Would it be worth it to purchase 99 spec sequential turbos from RX7Store.net? I like the lack of turbo lag of the sequentials as opposed to that of a single turbo. Would i be able to get a comparable power gain by boosting 99 spec turbos?

The 99 turbos spool slightly faster and can handle higher levels of boost a little better. That's about all you can expect. They certainly aren't worth purchasing if your twins are in good shape. If your turbos are toast and you want a good upgrade staying with the twins, then the 99s are for you...

What about the Big twin, upgrade? Any feedback on that? Saw the threat, but haven't searched yet. There is no doubt they'll throw serious power, but what about the reliability and maint.? TIA

If you are referring to the twins upgrade from A-spec (at the rx7store), those are a HELL of a lot of money. Since you have to run them non-sequentially, I don't consider them twins.....more like a quicker spooling single turbo. Of course, I haven't seen any info posted about whether or not they actually spool quicker than a ball-bearing turbo like the GT 35/40 that costs half as much and is simpler.....

http://66.216.67.51/subcat.asp?0=220 Yes, they are worth it if you are interested in reliable 300 to 350 rear-wheel hp (assuming you have the required IC, exhaust, ECU, and fuel mods). The performance on the street is outstanding. Faster spool up from the primary turbo, and more efficient boost production from the redesigned turbo blades (smaller diameter and different blade design), and special abradable seals (black plastic with essentially zero tolerance between the blade edge and housing). Jason's pricing is probably the lowest you'll see for NEW Japan spec twins. I bought mine from SR Motorsports for $2910 in Nov '02. Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development charges $2950, and you have to be Mazdaspeed Team Racer to purchase parts. Order from Rx7 Store, and have Zavier install them too!

Yeah, I recall talking to Zavier about that. I asked if anyone's done two singles. He says that they're doing twin single turbo upgrade kits. That's wild, crazy horsepower from the little Wankel LOL Of course I wouldn't expect much more than 20,000 to 30,000 miles from a race ported motor; I'd buy a spare Pineapple from Rx7 Store to have on hand...
