Do you know if he can ustomize where the redline is? I'm throwing an LS1 in my FD (no flames please) and I'd like for the gauge to actually match the engine. I'm pretty sure there would be some other LS1 swap guys that would be interested as well.

Are we still just speculating? Again, I have a cluster available for prototyping - so far we seem to have 6 ppl, including me; so can we get some more interest or what? Come on, these look nice!

I have a question.. I remember seeing SC400 gauge cluster and I want something like that.. So, do they also use different bulbs or all done by the gauge face?? I'm really looking for Defi BF type.. The pic on the first page looks awesome.. but not sure how it looks when the lights not on. Can you post some more pics??

Ok here is the updated list 8 to be exact:

myself
herblenny
vel525
tinfan82
broken93
sanfordman
prew
rx-7ml

If I can get different color faces or lower redline markings I guess we will have our 10, I just got to check with the guy still.

Skele4door, you guys thinking like 6 for the redline? It would probably be cool, same gauge just lowering the red markings, I will check.

Herblenny, I am thinking these are like the SC400... I haven't seen those but the gauges are going to light up, no blubs.

Broken93, no speculating once I get 10 & have got the go ahead from him you guys can start sending the cash and getting this going. If I need the cluster I will let you know.

I posted the rough templates that I have made for his reference. I think the three choices are going to be: OEM, Mazdaspeed, and Ferrari. The 99s look too close to OEM and I think the Mazdaspeed is much more of a unique look.

Right now I just posted to show you guys another thread with lots more pics including, ANGLED & LIGHTED shots. I will probably buy his VW setup tomorrow but by the time I have received, installed, and taken pics I would like to have this project already in motion.

Hmm, I'll have to post over at torquecentral.com to see what the consensus is. I'd say it'd probably be more like 6500-6750 on average. I'll get back with you with what we come up with. BTW, I'd assume there would be at least 5-10 V8 swap guys interested, so maybe it'd drop the GB into a lower price bracket.

7-sins, count me in. Now with the back lighting, that would glow green with a black face correct? Or, is the color adjustable? As long as it glows green, im there! The Ferarri set up looks awesome.

Also as with payment methods, what do we do, send you the money via paypal, send him the money, etc etc? Let me know, as my Defi's need something that matches as opposed to the stock set up.

Ok, I just sent a email to him with all of the questions and the templates I had made... I attached the three styles. The list is at 9 now, if I have to I will buy a second set, maybe resell it later because I know once these are installed people are going to want them.

RedR1, I don't think the color is adjustable. Once it is made thats the way it is, but green will not be a problem at all.

Herblenny, The cluster pretty much looked like the OEM style before. Except that the gauges are NOT back lit. VW did a really shitty design on their gauges until 99+. They lit the cluster up from the front, everything white on the face would reflect the color of the light, including the needles.

This is what the lighting looks like after changing just the bulb to blue... pretty cheap huh. Stock is green, thats why the LCDs are still green.

After making overlays for a stupid designed cluster like that I can't wait to see what our cars will look like.

Sorry for the delayed response but I do have a update!

We do have our 10 so this is pretty much a go. List as of now:

myself
herblenny
vel525
tinfan82
broken93
sanfordman
prew
rx-7ml
RedR1
poolman1126

I got his paypal & mail address whichever works easier for you guys. I am just waiting to see how much he wants down then we can get this rolling. I will send off my cluster I am pretty sure because dont know if I will get my car running anytime this year... anyway.

V8 guys: The redline can be set at any point... let me know if anyone else is interested and if there is a preferred redline point.

White face: He said he is trying other solid colors and will update me with any further info.

Thats the word for now,
Chris

I'd like something with a more updated look....maybe similar to the RX-8...that would help bring the car up to a more modern level.

How easy is it to change out the stock ones, anyways?

Well I came home from work one evening and for some reason my computer had turned itself off and would not come back on. I thought I seriously fried some **** cuz I am cooling it with water and if that stuff leaked.... anyway, after looking around it seemed to be my power supply. I ordered one out on moday but with shipping from the west cost, it will take its time.

I never looked at the templates from another monitor but now I see my contrast must be way down with my computer because they DO NOT look solid at all... LOL I guess I will have to fix that.

ArchangelX, I was going to go with something more updated but I think that the 99 spec cluster looks too close to a stock cluster, I think offering the Mazdaspeed & Ferrari will stand out better.

poolman1126, I will get back with you guys on that when I get my computer back running.

jacobcartmill, Sorry I dont have it for the FC but if these turn out good I dont think it would be a problem for him to make the FC. He is soon to have all 4 generations of the VWs then will do our project.

I'm highly interested as well but does he do also the heater dash gauges as well? It would be a nice package deal.

I was looking to order through blackcat but with a reverse glow set your gauges will light up a lot nicer. Maybe I will get the a/c controls through blackcat still. No updates as of now, but I will get my computer back running tomorrow.

Yeh, I looked at the blackcat designs a year or so ago. I thought they looked cheap and nasty. Even the a/c controls look nasty,.

Can't wait to get this deal sorted 7-sins. Look forward to getting an update
