putting on new belt

so among the current problems i have with my car, god thought it would be in my best interest to strike down upon me by having my alt belt break while making a right turn. So i gots me a new belt, i did some digging and this is supposedly the correct size yes? 5pk1355. So im down there. yanking and pulling and i can get this freaking thing on, is their any trick or am i just a *****. i already loosened the alt and it dropped a little but i still can get this damn thing on.

There is another tension adjustment by the air conditioning unit.

That's for the P/S and A/C belt. If he/she is trying to get it around the alternator, then the other tensioner would be the airpump (if he/she still has one installed).

If after loosening the air pump and you still are having a hard time getting the belt on, one more thing you could do is remove the alternator pulley, then wrap the belt around everything else (air pump, crank pulley, and water pump), and then re-install the alternator pulley while holding the belt in the grooves of the alternator pulley. This is one more step to do while installing a new belt, but it actually ends up saving time and frustration.

BTW, I use an impact wrench to remove the nut for the alternator pulley so it's very quick to do.

I found that if you remove the other alternator bolt (the one it pivots on), it'll let you rotate the alternator a little bit more than with just the adjuster one. For me, it was enough to get the belt on.
