Putting car back on the road... anything new

I have owned the car since '97. Used to track it ect, but life took over and things such as a mortgage payment etc. Haven't really been on the board here at all for 6-7 years and the car has been sitting for about 3 years.

Anything new that is a big time fix kind of thing pop up over the last few years? Anything that everybody is doing these days? I'm not going to rebuild ... again.. but I'll do some minor work on the car. Once i can move t again I'm going to have the FPD I've had in the garage for 5 years finally replaced and the fuel recall kit I guess and go from there.

HID headlights maybe? Everyone seems to be replacing everything with LEDs and what not now days to make everything brighter.

I bought a set off of SBG to replace my old headlights. I don't know how much night driving you do but compared to my original headlights these things are literally night and day.

I think they might be setting up another group buy? They're pricey but quality is top notch, and they're plug-n-play.

Honestly, Not much has changed. The more things change the more they stay the same... The formula for reliability hasn't changed. Just get the maintenance done so it's reliable enough to start shaking down.

The thought about that a few years ago was that it was really best to keep it. Has this changed?

Dang, I'd hoped that somebody had figured out these cars by now. It has a rebuild in it with 3mm seals but the damn thing started leaking soon after and I do remember that there were some cracks in the stock turbo but I couldn't justify the extra cost of turbos at the time. Any advancement in turbos or aftermarket setups. I like the quick spool up of the stockers.

One thing that I could never fix was starting the damn thing. I get the dreaded "click click" often when turning the key. Usually directly proportionate to how fast I wanted to get it going.

^within the last year.

Definitely look into water/meth injection, and 100% get the SakeBomb Garage HID headlights. I'm also very partial to Evans NPG+ coolant, although that's not exactly new.

Sounds like you're a great candidate for '99 spec twin turbos, I can source you a brand new set if you're ever interested just PM me

OK thanks. The turbos had some cracks when the motor was rebuilt a few... well 7-8 years ago.
I may honestly just get this thing going then get it gone. It's been a while since I've sat in the car even and 25 minutes of click....click ************ start god damnit. click... I remembered the abject hatred this car is able to arouse in me when it never works right. It's been 15 years, maybe it's time for something else.

Usually never drive at night so I don't know that I'll need expensive lights. I'll check out the water injection. Something that's been around since the 40s in aircraft LOL. One thing I never did for some reason was to put in a new radiator. I know I have a time bomb sitting in the nose of the car.
