Pulling Wiring Harness
Pulling Wiring Harness
Was installing my SS OMP lines ordered from rx7.com and decided to pull my wiring harness while at it.
I am going single and already had most of the connections off so I figured what the hell. Disconnecting it from the ECU and pulling it through the firewall was probably the easiest part (once you figured out how to get the ABS support out).
Anyways... I thought I would just post this for anyone that might be interested in cleaning up their engine bay or eliminating emissions crap, air pump , egr etc.
Will have to wait till this weekend to go by an performance shop that sells the heat reflective insulation. --- My obvious goal is to tidy things up a bit in the engine bay but I also want to protect wiring from the excessive exposure to heat.
This is all I did for tonight since I was not even planning on pulling this thing in the first place. I got held up due to a lack of zip ties which I plan to use to keep everything in their according groups.

Very cool, I'm in the middle doing the same thing myself, but my harness is pretty crispy so I'm trying to source a nicer one that won't fall apart as I pull it out of the engine bay
. Every time I move a connector I'm sure I just snapped it's wire in two, such nasty noises

Final Product, I am pretty happy with it... If I were to go back over it again, I found some 1" shrink wrap that I would use to do the bulk of the wiring harness.
For the resistors, I wired on a male and a female connector on each end and then a male and female connector where I clipped the injectors wires. I did this so when I eventually upgrade to an FJO Injector Driver, I can simply pull these out and connect the injector wires back together.
I know someone is going to try and tell me that taping them together was a bad idea because they will not be able to dissipate enough heat but I figured most people wire these under the UIM so that argument is basically out the window.
I have one wire on the harness that is exposed, it took me forever to figure out if I could pull it or not ( i was tired last night) so I left it in while I was taping everything up. It turns out I can pull it so it will be coming out after this post.
Was a fantastic learning experience and I hope everything works!!!
