Question Pros/Cons of Modified UIM? (see pic)

I came across this modified UIM. I'm guessing it's to add additional fuel... pros/cons to this setup?

Thanks

I dont think there are to many cons to this set up as long as you have it tuned and working right...

I believe you have to be running really high HP to need this setup

I would change the way it is fed though to where it feed's fuel from both ends so the injector on the end wont run out of fuel...

Those injectors will be spraying the opposite side of the manifold rather than down into the manifold like the stock injectors do. The location of the stock injectors is much better as they're closer to the combustion chamber and have a much more advantageous spray pattern.

Larger injectors in the stock locations are better. You see those old systems every once in a while from back in the day when the only way to get extra fuel was to use a piggy back ecu that ran the extra injectors in concert with the stock ecu and injectors. With today's fully programmable ecu available there is no longer a need for such systems.

Thanks for the info Damon. I thought it looked similar to say, the additional injector and bung in the elbow from back in the day...

That's a way better method of getting fuel in the engine than the injector in the elbow. But, it's still pretty much a crapshoot as to whether you're getting good, atomized fuel or just making the wall of the manifold wet.

BTW, those bungs are available from Greddy for like $15-20 each, and they're easy to have welded on. But, it's an "old-school" way of doing additional fuel.

I would go with the lower manifold that A-Spec sells over this set up. With the lower manifold you have 2 more injectors in line with the stock location injectors and no problems with fuel atomization. Only con is the cost.

Dunno Brandon. But it's a JDM UIM FYI.
