Bravo on getting the group-buy together for these awesome parts, as well as posting a great project thread with all the relevant details and trials/tribulations... not to mention finishing it!

No joke, this is an example for all forums of how it should be done. I hope you make a killing on these over the next few years. *cheers*

Why would you use the dual-intensity LEDs for the center bulbs? Don't you only need single-intensity?

You said in the first post
The (optional) center circles:

Since I'm thinking about keeping the center circles, I still need to keep some sort of bulb behind the inserts. I'm thinking about using these dual-intensity LED bulbs:
18-LED Tower Type 1156 & 1157 Bulbs

I know I've said it before, but I love this thread and the finished product.

Did you end up sending out for the PCB's? I know you posted the screen shot of the PCB you designed when you were thinking of using T1 3/4 LEDs and I saw that you got some 6x6 copper laminates... did you end up making them yourself, and/or change the design for using SMDs?

I'd love to do something similar to this for a different application and the actual PCB production is my only hangup.

i changed the design since i decided to go with surface mount leds, then i ended up working directly with a company to have them custom produced based to my specification. it ended up being the better route for making many sets, as it would have been near impossible to solder a couple hundred leds per set of tails...haha

Yeah I figured as much. Since I'm only doing a few, I was going to try to make my own boards, but goddamn that's a lot of traces.

haha definitely. i mean don't get me wrong i don't mind soldering...but when it's that many connections i would rather pay someone to do it.

Very innovative, those definately for sure. I don't like the lighted center on the 1st page myself.

I allways wanted to buy and still love these ...

I was thinking just a lighted dot in the center would look best. So when it's fully lit with the brakes tit would look like a black out inner ring seperating the outter parking light and the inner brake circle light.

I do like the ways yours is turning out though

I could make those in 1/4 of the time it takes to make my own style. But like I said from the start - I don't like seeing individual leds...

question, how do these attach to the factory harness? I went back through and looked at the pictures and it looks like they attach to the light bulb socket?

any possibilty you might consider doing the turn signals with the red LED's too so the are all alike? similar to how a corvette is. maybe for a higher price?

It's all posted in the GB thread. They attach to the stock harness so no mods needed:
