Progress on Rebuild and Single Turbo

Well at the beginning of the summer (april/may) I decided to get my engine rebuilt and go single turbo. The engine was super low on compression and the twins were about to blow. Well now the summer is ending and here is the progress so far.

Pics go in progression.
1-Old Stuff
2-New rotor housings
3-rebult shortblock
4-progress into shortblock

Right now the longblock is almost complete. Waiting on gt35r t4 1.00a/r turbo from A-Spec. So I think this project will be complete within the next 2 months...hopefully.

Right now my car and motor are in Texas. I have been looking for a Nashville (or area) rx-7 club. But that would be awesome to get a meet together. Especially a FD meet along with a scenic drive.

What are you doin with your FD?

Really? I have only seen it once in person and that was when it was still just a shortblock. But even then it was amazing. I'm sure now that alot of it is together it looks great in person. Especially once that single goes on!!! It is so cool to see parts on there that you always wanted to replace or get clean or upgrade. Every time I recieve pictures of an update I get so excited and anxious. It's been about 3 months for me. I can't even imagine what it is like for those people who have waited for about a year or longer.
Yes, the gt35r is going to kick alot of ***. I can't wait. It's funny though, sometimes I think Kyle is more excited about getting it on the street than I am. HAHA. I love it though.

How is your car?

Kyle is definitely excited to see the what kind of power that gt35r is going to put down. The engine is real clean, looks brand new. My car is actually going really well now, finally hunted down some electrical grimlins and I'm looking to go single soon as the non-seq twins crap out. Also working on a bridgeport/ceramic seal project engine.

Did you get any porting done? I'm thinking about going the GT35R option that you got with the 1.0 A/r just like what you've chosen. I'm not sure when this will happen though as I've got a motor with 7000 on the rebuild and fairly brand new twins. If I can sell the whole setup I might do it sooner.

Maybe I can get in on a TN meet with you guys.

Ya I got a mild streetport done. I'll let you know how it is if that's what you are wanting to know. My tuner/guy who is doin the work talked to Sean at a-spec and I think with what I'm looking for 420whp at 15psi the 1.00a/r t4 will do wonders. Ya man when I get my car up and everyone else gets done with their stuff we should all have a meet. We will get something organized.

I would have stayed with something like that but for the price and simpleness of a single turbo it just made more sense

If you didn't feel the "pull" then you weren't in a 400hp FD.

awsome work, really looks the business.

Who's exhaust system is that you're using, or is it a home build?

everything (turbo, manifold, wastegate, dp, lines) come from A-Spec. They are pretty much the most reliable, best quality, and best customer service company that produces kits for our cars. Plus they put together custom kits and their manifolds come with a lifetime warranty.
