PRofec B-Spec II tuning questions.

Hokay let's first go over the five settings

Set - desired boost pressure

Gain - boost consistency and fall off at high rpms

Start Boost - boost response

Warning - the warning setting

Limiter - lowers boost if you hit warning

Factory settings:

Boost Mode - Lo
Set - 0%
Gain - 10%
Start Boost - 0 (x100kpa)
Warning 1.2 (x100kpa)
Limiter - 0%

Changed units from kpa to psi - 10psi reads as 100, 14.5psi reads as 145

OEM wastegate spring pressure is ~7psi.

So if i want to set my "LO" boost at 10psi

it should read

Set .4 (1.4x 7psi =10psi)
Gain (adjusted for drop off at higher rpms)
Start Boost (boost response vs spiking)
Warning 120 (12psi)
Limiter .20%

Is that correct? Anyone have any pointers?

Go out at midnight, make sure your gas tank is full. 4th gear pulls work best as you have longer time to see what's going on.

start with everything at Zero. Hit boost to see what up.

Set warning to desired boost level, limiter 50%. Work way up with just set and gain. Don't worry about start boost. Once you actually get to the desired boost level work on fine tuning it. That is response vs spiking.

IIRC for 10 psi my set is at 22 and my gain is at 14...

Well, i've noticed that there's a lot more low end boost response (poor mans). But my boost doesn't seem to be controlled. It runs up to 12psi on my defi bf gauge- .76 on my PFC. That's when i lift. My injector duties are okay, but i haven't installed my afx yet so i don't know if afrs are in spec.

I'd like to find out #1 if my defi gauge is out of calibration. (the vacuum >> boost transition appears accurate) but the 1.5-2psi difference between the defi gauge and the pfc display concerns me. I'll check what the peak boost on the profec read tomorrow morning.

I have the profec set at oem settings so i shouldn't be going over 10psi.

what does the greedy unit diplay? IMO the boost on the Greedy unit is rather accurate with my PFC (withing 0.5 of a psi). It's my autometer gauge that sucks.

It your turn off your greedy unit the most you should boost is 7 psi. no more. What are your mods?

2 things may be your culprit:

1) your unit is not hooked up properly

or

2) you are creeping. Which the boost controller does not do **** for that.

Boost creep happens at higher gears due to the fact that the boost has more time to build up. So are you getting different boost levels in 1st gear vs 3rd gear? if you so you have a creep problem.
