Profec B spec II DIY remote hi/lo switch

I was having problems with tracktion in 1st through 3rd gear on high boost so I looked in to geting the greddy hi/lo switch that is made for it so I can up the boost when I get in to the harder gears. Well I didn't really think it was worth a $100 so I started to search on how to make one and I found this. You really cant beat it for under $10.

This basic picture shows the audio jack and its associated wires, and how those wires need to be connected to a momentary switch.

First off, the audio jack was purchased at Best Buy for1.99 and is 6’ long. The switches were 2.49 at Radio Shack for a box of 5. The types of switches and jacks that can be used vary from brand to brand, as well as the wiring and coloring of the wires. It’s best to have a meter to read the resistance so you know you have the right one.

In the picture the red wire and the ground wire are all that we are concerned about. To make sure it’s the right one, hook you multimeter from the red wire to the very tip of the jack, it should read zero. If it doesn’t, it could be the other wire. But for this example we’ll use what I’ve got here. The red wire is connected to the tip. The white wire is connected to the middle, and the ground is connected to the back. The white wire IS NOT USED. Cut it back and out of the way.

Next, place your switch where you want it, I used the shift ****, but only because mine was aftermarket and worked well with the smaller switch I found. BTW any momentary switch will work! I had to fabricate a little to allow room for the switch. Before you solder make sure you run the wires through anything that you won’t be able to once the switch is permanently attached!(without de-soldering again, not that I had that problem

Next solder the red wire to one terminal of the switch, and the ground to the other terminal. It doesn’t matter which one because all that the switch is doing is closing the circuit for that moment the switch is pressed. To make sure it is working, hook the leads of your meter up to the audio jack at the tip and the back (not the middle), and when the switch is pressed it should read a short, and when it’s at rest it should read an open.

Hook it into the back of your EBC, turn on the power and press the button a couple times, and it’ll switch between hi and lo boost. Your basically done. Route your wires out of the way and go have fun.

Disclaimer: I am in no way responsible for any damage that might incur by using this on your EBC. Install and Use at your own risk!
