Problem swaping Y-Pipe

Ok so I'm on my way to fix my boost leak and i decided to put the efini Y-pipe instead of just changing the coupling... now i'm following R. Robinette's guide, altho I'm not able to get the #*@%$n metal intake pipe out of that stupid hole

It really got me mad so I figured I would leave the car there and come over here to ask for some tips!

So is there anything special I should know in order to remove that pipe? the 2 bolt from under are removed already... oh yeah I destroyed that gasket as well

I usually loosen up both sides of the y-pipe (where they attach to each of the turbo's. That way it gives you some slack to lift them up a little untill it slips out. assemble the same way so they mate up right.

Usually the gaskets are metal... then again that's on my JDM turbo's and the 99 specs I replaced them with.

240$ and I bought it off RX7Store.net

Ok so I went back to see... and I can't reach the top nut without getting the intake pipe first.

That intake pipe comes out by pulling it out from under the car - BUT is that a right hand drive car?

Yeah it looks like a RHD... Easiest way if from the bottom once you break them lose you can get them off by hand fairly easy... Another way I have done it is take off the UIM and snake your hand down through that way its a pain in the butt and having long fingers and small hands helps a lot. All I have to say is I hate that damn pipe.

I don't remember having to remove that pipe to do the y-pipe swap. As I recall, I did have to remove the air pump (not pertinent to your problem).

^^That should be correct. Rotating the compressor housing slightly toward the guard, was the only way I could manage to extract that pipe with the engine in-situ, but I'm not much good at puzzles.
