yeah i read that in the FSM also. so my MAP sensor is probably alright.. this is all so frustrating. is it possible it's hard to start because it's not broken in yet, the few times i have started it I drove it maybe a half a mile total.. and total idle time on the engine is maybe an hr or so. I also have 3 mm seals.. or should i not be having THIS much of an issue with it? this is my first rebuilt engine

i ordered an HKS twin power + harness the other day. i knew i would eventually need one anyways and i figured maybe this will help with the flooding and starting until i get my maps right and the engine broken in.

So we'll see what happens when i get it and hook it all up. I think i got a pretty good deal on it. Brand new shipped w/ harness for $375ish.

quick way to start a flooded RX7 if you have a manual transmission and a tow vehicle

If you aren't familiar with being towed, get help from someone who is. The most important things to know are; the towing vehicle provides the power to go, the towed vehicle provides the brakes to stop. Set up a hand and /or horn signal communication.

Top speed was about 10 to 15 mph, car in 3rd gear, key in position so that steering was available but NO power to the ignition system (no fuel pump), towed about 100 feet with the clutch pedal out (engine turning over), throttle wide open to clear all the fuel (you will feel the compression building as the fuel clears and the oil pump gets oil to the apex seals), after you feel compression, take your foot off the accelerator and turn on the key, in another 100 to 200 feet you should start to feel the engine catch and you have to be good with the clutch here as if it catches, you might get a slack tow rope so you have to have some talent and good communication with the tow vehicle. If the tow rope goes slack, try to keep it that way until the towing vehicle stops.

I had tried the other methods and they didn't work for me; with this one I had the car running in 5 minutes or less. The car will run crappy for several minutes until it gets warmed up.

I will never shut it off cold again unless it's an emergency.

does the oil pump get oil to the seals or does the oil metering pump supply the oil?

I'm not sure if my OMP is working, i dont see any errors on the PFC but i didnt see any oil going through my clear OMP lines either. I'm running premix until i find out for sure if its working or not, Maybe the oil injectors are clogged or something idk.

If mine isnt working and that is indeed what supplies the oil i wont be able to build compression that way.

thought i would post an update. I finally got around to installing the Twin power, took all of 30 secs with the FD harness. Very impressed. Prior to installing i cranked the car over and it showed its usual flooded signs of not even attempting to start.

After installing the twin power the car starts so easy. My fuel maps still need tuned, but this was definitely the best mod i could have done to make starting it easier.

The amount of time i spent pulling plugs and cranking the engine over, pulling the car, pulling, testing checking cranking breaking my back hunched over the engine bay. Over and over and over just to have it idle for awhile and then not start the next time to repeat the whole process.

When all i had to do was get the twin power and turn the key for a couple secs. Why didnt i do that sooner? dang

The end

update, i sent my injectors off to get cleaned and tested. everything was fine with them, they increased the flow on them slightly with cleaning but not much. everything checked out good from witchhunter before and after the tests and cleaning.

im tuning the car now, just trying to get idle and cruise set right.
when i adjust the a/f to around 11.5 or so i cant get the idle to drop below about 1200. i have the throttle body closed all the way, and the AAS closed all the way, i even plugged the fuel injector atomization line. I'm guessing i have a vacuum leak somewheere. I'm wondering if my ICS is stuck open, because when it was connected it was making an odd noise. I'll probably remove it and put a block off plate on since im doing manual idle control. If it's not that then ill just have to inspect other things i guess.

My idle on the dataloggit is idling in P9, N2-N4.

Those cells are too high right?

Prob from a vacuum leak? thoughts?
