just got a new egr on no check light anymore.
but im smelling a rich / rotten egg smell.
any ideas?
i only smell it if windows are down and at a stand still idling.

 

sounds like your cat is going bad. I've have the same exact thing happen, and also check to make sure you are not running pig rich.

what is pig rich?
and it seams to happen more when i have been in the boost hard.
also im geting popping like small back firing i thing its from the same thing?

More like if the car is running rich. Rich = raw fuel that's not burn inside combustion chamber leaving the engine. Sometime known as black smoke from tail pipe.

I would check your O2 sensor to make sure it is responding correctly or your engine is not having vacuum leak in return causing the ECU to enrichened the fuel mixture.

i know there are no vac leaks
and im sure the o2 is ok i dont have any codes being thrown.
and theres no smoke just a very strong oder of gas.
anything ells that might cause it suck as clogged injectors or somthing.
if i remember reading correctly if there clogged they can spray extra fuel is this true?

 

Are u smelling raw gasoline inside the passenger compartment even with windows closed. If so you might have a leaky injector. That will cause ur car to run rich and rotten egg smell from ur exhaust. Have that check out asap. Cuz u can get an engine bay fire. Ask me how I know. LOL.

 

not to much when the windows r up only when there down or when outside of the car one once or twice ive smelt it inside with windows up.
most of the time its like when i have windows down and i come to a stop or right after i let off of boosting hard
