Primary Injector Diffusers...what EXACTLY do they do and do I REALLY need them?

Primary Injector Diffusers...what EXACTLY do they do and do I REALLY need them?
I removed mine during my disassembly and broke one of them 
. I plan on buying diffusers for both injectors, o-rings and insulators. I'm just wondering if I really need them and if I can run without them with no harm to reliability or performance. I searched and the thread https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ector+diffuser discusses that all they do is help for better fuel atomization and stop the car from flooding? Maybe I read the flooding thing wrong?
I just wanna know what they exactly do and if they hurt performance or reliabiltiy if running without them. Thanks in advance.

They should help the car to idle better .I use them with stock injectors and with 850 cc injectors in the pri spot .I do not use them in the sec spot with bigger than stock injectors .
