main harness plastic clip set -> 10 pieces $40 total.

you cannot replace the plastic elbows on the main harness; you must buy a complete new harness. I'm going to see if I can find suitable workaround. I have an idea and I'll post details if it works out.

The work around worked like a charm. I went ahead and ordered the plastic clip set and within the set I found a couple black circular clips that I was able to use to clip the main harness to the front support with slight modification. A basically cut out a section of the plastic channel and clipped/tapped the new clip in its place.

I also got the LS6/t56 dropped in this weekend ;o)

sorry to threadjack a tad but just after seeing the mirror posts. I think someone should make clones of the ones used on the porsche Carrera GT. The originals would obviously cost a ton but have you seen them? They would look killer on an FD.

Doesn't bother me. Go ahead and post a pic of them if you'd like.

Slowly...still working on collecting body parts so I can do the paint, and I will probably start on the engine rebuild in the coming couple of weeks. I'll be moving the chassis to my parent's new shop this week, which has a lot more room than my garage, so hopefully that will speed up and ease up the process.

Is yours on the road yet, Rob?

It'll come together for you quickly I'm sure. Not yet, but I have a body shop appt in 3 weeks. I've been spending a few hours every night on the car and I hope to crank the engine in 2 weeks or so. I will be a while til she's road ready.

more prices:

hardware to mount front bumper/lip and clips for interior plastics = about $180

all metal trim pieces on the car run around $100-$120 each.

the rubber seals on the doors and chassis run about $85 and $65 respectively.

Door handles from Ray run about $155 and $185 (one is more expensive than the other)

To replace all the fuse box covers in the engine bay = about $65. You cannot purchase the plastic pieces that are part of the body harness itself separately; you must purchase the complete harness.

that really sucks that you can't replace just the plastic pieces, my body harness is in good shape but the plastic pieces are not!

I think I'll make some myself then.

I purchased a full set of platic clip rings and fastened a few of them (black in color) to the harness in a way that would allow me to clip the harness back in its original position. A basically cut out the sections where the clips were broken and installed the fresh clips in those areas. This worked out well for me since I did not have to use zipties or other jerry rigging aids. You could also consider using a plastic welder to weld new clips to the plastic pieces.

More useful info:

  • You can no longer buy the 94 textured plastic surrounding the A/C controls unless you purchase the entire air control assembly for about $650
  • The drivers door textured plastics (2 pieces) cost about $460, passenger door (1 piece) = $290
  • Textured shifter surround = about $75
  • In 1994 Mazda upgraded the aluminum motor mount arm to steel (like the passenger side mount) because they found that the aluminum arm causes oil pan leaks due to clearance issues.

yup, i purchased all the '94 interior plastics from Ray a while back, to include getting an a/c surround. not cheap, but well worth it

lol. I've spent enough just on unexciting stuff like bolts, brackets, wiring, sensors etc. to buy a full interior twice over. I've just accepted this project for what it is, a wallet attacking disease ;oP Curusco knows what I'm talking about.... On a more positive note the car is about 85% done, I'm just waiting to get her back from the body shop so I can finish up the wiring, fuel and hydraulics.

Haha, wow. Gratefully I at least have jackstands with dollies underneath for my body to sit on. Was the intention of that much removal a repaint? I just notice several parts still attatched. After photo would definitely be cool...
