Price for Speedo with zero miles & misc sensors
For those building cars from scratch, a new speedo with 0 miles on the odometer from Malloy is $296.06. = a little cheaper than I expected (expect 1-2 week backorder)
Fuel pressure sending unit is about 85 bucks
engine temp sensor is about 25 bucks

Wow, have you ever considered importing a '99+ FD from Japan and swapping all the parts into the chassis you have? Probably would be cheaper than buying individual parts from scratch, plus you'd have all the updates.

That wouldn't help me all that much since I'm not using a stock drivetrain. But I tell you what, it's just the nickles and dimes that creep up on you, like 1500 in gaskets (without engine rebuild) bolts and sensors from GM and Mazda. I took the week off to hopefully put a good dent in my little project. I hope to have the driveline hooked up by Sunday if I can get all of my bolts etc. in time. Need to order HO Alt and AC Compressor tonight! and I know there's some other little fitting, nut or bolt that I'm forgetting....
Curosco and Heath, you know what I'm talking about ;o)

Haha, definitely know! I'm working on both a repaint and getting the engine in order to put back together as soon as I get the vitals sent out for porting and coating. With this all going on, one of the favorite games to play is "Who's got the hose" with all the random little things that got pulled off and wondering how many other little random nuts and bolts are going to be missing from all the parts that will go in the engine bay. Taking over someone else's project (which is what I have done, in the half torn apart stage) is even more silly work than doing your own!

Man that is a big project you have ahead of you. I thought mine was big. Why was that car torn down in the first place anyway? It looks like the bidy is still pretty much mint.

Neat - http://ferrett.com/gallery/CYMrestore
I didn't do the restore work, but I can certainly vouch that the end result can be pretty awesome.

sferrett, That's a beautiful restoration.
Correction, this "was" Wael's old chassis ;o) How are those headlights working out for ya?
Yeah I was very happy to buy this shell. I am a gap **** but this chassic lines up like a dream. Fritz parted it out because noone would pay him what the full car was worth. I believe he also needed the money to pay for a family member's medical expenses. The shell wasn't cheap but I think I got what I payed for minus the fender which was damaged before shipment. Fritz gave me a replacement off of one of his track cars, so no big deal. I'll give Wael credit on his $8k paint job, it looked really nice even though it was negated by a couple chips, a black fender and a long-lost hood. I eventually ended up purchasing Wael's M2 BBK and suspension fitted with Mazda comp bushings and N-tech brake ducts. I also went out and traded a brand new 99 facia for the original. I was going to full-on restore it to what it was but have since decided that I'd rather go my own direction with the project. I have a few original ideas that I look forward to trying out. ;o)

turbojeff did a nice job
More prices: front bumper trim brackets with long rubber seals --> around $150
another $120ish for the metal reinforcement brackets that are riveted/screwed onto the bumper.
I met Ray Crow today while I was picking up sensors from Malloy. It's always interesting to finally meet someone after years of communication over the phone. If you're wondering what he looks like he's probably in his 50's, grey hair, is pretty thin, average height and has a pretty clean cut appearance. Pretty nice guy.

Those mirrors are stainless steel ones for BMW Z8. IIRC, they are $1000 each.

I like the fact that the mirrors are heated but I've never been a fan of the way they look. I'll be looking back through the stockers.
I've made some decent progress on the car the past couple days, aside from the wiring disaster. The wiring in Waels car has so many splices and loose wires that I'm 2 seconds from replacing all harnesses. I ran the main harness last night but am unable to secure it because most all of the mounting clips are broken off. I'm going to call Ray and see what it's going to take to replace al of the harness plastics so that I can properly mount this thing.
Would anyone here happen to have some nice door harnesses handy?
