Price Range in FD's
Price Range in FD's
Alright, as we all know the FD is not a very popular car. Condition and quality and mileage all plays an important role in determining price. But as a standard, what is considered a "decent" price for a FD. There is one in my city trying to get 14 000 for it, with 120 000 km, straight stock. I scored mine from japan, so good price over there, but what do they sell in N.A like? Say a 93,94 or 95. Stock, with over 100km. Good condition none the less. On car sites, I see the price ranging from 9000 all the way to 30 000. Anyone want to chime in?

Fair enough
Yeah, I guess condition plays an important factor. For a stock good condition with 100k km on it, should that even be possible for 14? is that low? high normal? It's a touring with leather/sunroof. Appears to be in good condition Sigh, I do not know how I cna phrase this. but for stock FD's what are some approx prices for good condition 100km mileage or so. Sigh, in general I'm just curious what good condition stock FD's go for. I don't know how to be specific or anything, which is why a 10 000 spread wouldnt be a shocker for me.

The FD unpopular? I wouldn't say that. A decent condition FD is $14k, good nearer $18-20k. immaculate - I've seen a 93 with under 3,000 miles in showroom shape go for like $36,000 here in MN.
unpopular?
Okay, maybe I should have said, appear to be unpopular and well arn't common like a civic or anything. For example in my city there are three FD's and in my province ide say, maybe 10 tops. So where I am from they are not common at all. Popular in places but not all I guess.

In 2006, they produced more Civic SI's (just the si model, nothing else) than they did for the 7 for the entire duration it was imported to the states. They probably produced over 100k civics in 2006.
Not popular......well, maybe for the person looking for a practical DD, but in the sports car world, the 7 is a highly sought after machine. Not the most sought after, but it ranks up there with some other pretty wicked machines.

Most decent FDs sell for $15k or so (< 80k miles, reasonable cosmetics), climbing to $20k or so as the miles go (much) lower. Very few FDs sell for over $20k. $10k will buy you a tired 100k+ mile car.
12-14k seems to be the going rate for usdm cars.
jdm cars seem to all be less than 10,000 regardless of the mileage. my car has 40,000miles and i got it for 5 grand would you believe. but that took some serious grinding of the salesman to do that.

dont forget guys, he's in canada, cars are more expensive up here, even used ones.
in regards to the OP's car mentioned, yea thats a good price if the cars in good condition.
most decent canadian rx7's are $20k+ easily
even shitty ones go for well over 10 (not counting jdm ones since thats kind of a different category)
i lucked out and got my 93 for 15

The same car might sell in CA for $10-12k but thats because there is so much more supply there.

higher mileage is ok but you want to see all maint records to back up the sellers claim of good condition. I can see a good condition higher mileage FD going for 15-18k but service history records are the key. and make sure the car is serviced by a rotary tech not some gas station on the corner next to the sellers house.
