Preparing for rebuild
I know there is a video out there for purchase that will guide a person through the entire engine swap... In the event that my engine goes and will need a rebuild (thank god I do not need one yet, and probably will not for a while), I will pretty much have to remove the engine myself... crate it, and ship it, right? I know there are places like rotary resurrection and mazdatrix and others... Which ones do you all recommend? Also... once I get the video, is all I will need an engine hoist and my trusty set of tools? I'm just worried I guess... never removed an engine before... I don't need it anytime soon, but I just wanted to be covered on the basics when it DOES come time... I want to keep my 7 going for a looooong, loooooong time... thanks.

A metric socket and wrench set with several extensions and universals along with standard screwdrivers, adjustables, pliers, visegrips, etc. are all that are needed. And an engine hoist obviously.
For an idea how to go about tearing the engine down to shortblock for shipping, you can check out the tech section of my webpage. I dont yet have a photodocumented writeup for the REW, but the t2 motors give you a good idea how to go about it, as they're assembled in the same order. There is also a link on the page about how to pallet the engine for shipment.
You really dont need a video, to be honest. But theyre an excellent resource for those who feel uncomfortable. The best thing you could have is a good friend/mechanic on hand to help you do the work. IF theyre experienced on 7s, all the better.
